Cleanse

Shop Korean cleansers in Australia, genuine stock dispatched from our Sydney warehouse. Cleansing is step one of a Korean routine, and it is the step that decides how well everything after it works.

About Korean cleansers

Korean cleansing is built around not stripping the skin. Rather than one aggressive wash, the approach splits the job in two: an oil or balm to dissolve sunscreen, makeup and the oily grime of the day, then a gentle water-based foam or gel to clear what is left. The point is that sunscreen and long-wear makeup are not water soluble, so a foam alone tends to leave residue behind, and people compensate by scrubbing harder with something stronger. Double cleansing removes more while being gentler overall, which is why it suits people whose skin feels tight, squeaky or irritated after washing.

It suits almost everyone, but it matters most if you wear sunscreen daily, wear makeup, live somewhere humid, or have congestion around the nose and chin.

What we stock

Our cleanser range covers both steps, across balms, oils and foams:

Shop by skin concern

Congestion and visible pores. The Anua Heartleaf oils and the Anua Quercetinol foam are the pore-focused options, and the Medicube Zero Foam Cleanser comes from the same Zero line as the Zero Pore Pad.

Sensitivity and redness. Centella is the calming ingredient to look for, which is where the SKIN1004 Madagascar Centella oil and duo sit. The Anua Mild oil is the lower-strength version of the standard Pore Control oil.

Dullness and rough texture. The Beauty of Joseon Green Plum cleanser is the mildly refreshing option, and the Banila Co Clean It Zero balm is the classic first-step remover for heavier makeup and sunscreen.

How to build a double cleanse

Start with the oil or balm on dry skin, not wet. Massage it over the face for around a minute so it has time to break down sunscreen and makeup, then add a little water to emulsify it into a milk and rinse. Follow with the foam or gel on damp skin, keep it brief, and rinse with lukewarm water. Pat dry and move straight into your toner or serum while the skin is still slightly damp.

In the morning, most people do not need the oil step. A single gentle cleanse is enough, since there is no sunscreen or makeup to remove.

Frequently asked questions

Do I really need two cleansers? At night, if you wear sunscreen or makeup, yes. In the morning one is fine. If you wear neither and your skin is dry, one gentle cleanse at night is also fine.

Will a cleansing oil break me out? It is a common worry and usually the opposite is true, because oils dissolve the sebum and sunscreen sitting in pores. If you are cautious, the Anua Mild version is the lower-strength place to start, and patch test first.

Balm or oil, which should I choose? Balms are tidier to travel with and tend to feel richer. Oils spread faster and rinse cleaner. Both do the same job, so it is mostly texture preference.

How long should a bottle last? A 200ml cleansing oil used nightly usually runs three to four months. The foams are more concentrated and generally last longer.

Can I use these with retinol or exfoliating acids? Yes. Cleansers are rinse-off, so they do not conflict with actives. If your skin is reacting to an active, switching to a gentler cleanser is one of the fastest ways to settle it down.
